Gunnison Sage-grouse Festival - April 14, 2012

Lifestyles and Livelihoods - Everyone Plays a Role

Don't miss the Gunnison Sage-grouse festival this Saturday, April 14th from 9am to 3pm! Events are located in the College Center at Western State College.

The popular, kid-friendly public event features a jogger-stroller-friendly 5k run/walk (with a separate wave for dogs on leashes + free leashes for dog entrants), a 10k run (around the perimeter of Gunnison), a mountain bike race on the trails behind WSC (conditions & weather permitting), dog agility & distraction courses (with Waggin’ Tails & K-9 Training), live music, art, a half-day photo workshop (with conservation photographer Dave Showalter), nature slideshow (from the Sage Spirit book project), interactive exhibits from agencies and conservation organizations, chili & fixin’s, kids’ crafts, face painting, photo opps with Smokey Bear & Elbert Ram, a live raptor display (Nature & Raptor Center of Pueblo), Gunnison Sage-grouse & OHV conservation videos, volunteer signup opportunities, & more. Proceeds benefit sagebrush ecosystem conservation efforts on local & public lands.
